Summertime spectacles courtesy of The Miracle Theatre Company
Summer’s starting to wrap up, and very soon so will The Miracle Theatre, as their roving summer show plays its last performances throughout the south west. If you haven’t managed to see it yet, please do, it’ll make your summer. I promise.
Their wonderful, comic interpretations of classic productions are always performed at stunning outdoor locations, in front of a picnicking, booze-infused audience. Plus there’s the hotly anticipated appearance of Ben Dyson as the dame (a part they manage to squeeze into almost every production they do).
Earlier in the summer we went to see their special rendition of The Tempest at Mount Pleasant Eco Park, where an amphitheatre of old tyres provides the auditorium, with magnificent views out back, down the valley to the sea at Porthtowan.
As always, the show was brilliant; the stage, the slightly dog-eared costumes, the hilarious script, and of course, Ben Dyson in a dress. Hannah Stephens was also fantastic as Miranda, her debut performance since graduating in drama from Queen Mary’s. And of course Ciaran Clark was as funny as always, just his face makes us smile! Oh and there was some ad-lib with some Pringles.
The tour comes to an end at the end of August, so if you’re in the Cornwall or Devon neighbourhood make sure you go see them, you won’t be disappointed.
